HSHL01A: Climate in spatial decision making
The consequences of climate change on water management aren’t taken into account sufficiently when choosing locations for new functions or redevelopment of current locations. A good assessment is of importance to prevent high costs in future water management.
The goal of this project is to develop and apply dialogue supporting assessment framework. This framework will ensure that the long term effects of climate change play a role in the process of spatial planning in a transparent fashion. This will apply to both choosing new locations for spatial development as well as redeveloping existing residential, business and greenhouse areas.
The methodology will primarily be developed and applied for the Hotspot Haaglanden. It will, however, also be transmissible to other regions and supplemented with other climate effects beside water management (for example heat stress).
