HSHL06/HSHL12: Broad, region specific reconnaissance of effects of climate change in relation to future scenarios and trends
Changes in climate and society ask for an adaptation of the current spatial planning in The Haaglanden. In this project, research on areal specific effects of climate change in relation to the expected socio economic developments will be done. The goal is to be able to identify the best applicable adaptation strategies. The activities will consist of:
-
improvement of current knowledge of the effects of climate change, both in-depth and broadening
-
enhancing current socio economic scenario studies
The main approach is to do integral spatial analysis. Several workshops with thematic experts and people familiar with the area will be held. Based on their findings opportunities and issues for the area will be identified and further research questions will be formed. The focus on the project will therefore be on the spatial trends which are relevant for the area.
Relevant spatial themes in the area are for example: the future of the greenhouse sector, the importance of a green environment in urban area, changes in water management and urbanization.
