Delta programme
The Delta Programme (the new-style Delta Plan) is aimed at protecting our country from flooding and securing its fresh water supply now and in the future. Many aspects have to be taken into account, ranging from the environment and economy to nature, agriculture and recreation.
The new-style Delta Plan has been structured in such a way that we can prepare for climate change impacts the coming century. We need to be prepared for changes in sea level, subsidence and anticipate both wetter and drier periods. If these changes occur more quickly than expected, we will have the plans at hand to adjust to this circumstance. If changes take place more slowly, we will not implement our plans earlier than necessary.
Knowledge for Climate and the Delta Programme work together on the following topics:
- Climate proof flood management
- Climate proof fresh water supply
- High quality climate projections
- Governance of adaptation
- High quality climate projections
- Decision support tools
- Cooperation on programme and sub-programme level (sub-programmes of the Delta programme and Knowledge for Climate themes and hotspots)
